ORIGIN STORY

How it All Started

Inspired by the work of his team at IBM Adversary Simulation and alongside industry peers such as Will and Lee at SpecterOps, Chris Thompson set out to create the first conference focused specifically on use of AI in offensive cyber - distinct from events centered on securing AI systems themselves. He partnered with Will and Nick from Dreadnode, along with Kristen Del Roso, drawing on her experience organizing ChinaCon, to bring the vision to life.

What began as a niche gathering quickly evolved into a premium, invite-only event as interest in applied AI surged. Taking cues from the format and community ethos of LabsCon, OAIC was designed as a curated forum for researchers, AI labs, government stakeholders, and practitioners - emphasizing meaningful dialogue, collaboration, and shaping the future direction of offensive AI in a relaxed, relationship-driven setting.

The inaugural event would not have been possible through early seed support from Dreadnode and the hard work and support of their team. While continuing to support OAIC, Dreadnode has stepped back in 2026 to focus on its expanding core business and looks forward to participating and sponsoring the opening night gathering.
